Why does knowing my attachment style matters?

This is a topic I’m truly passionate about. It was only when I started to understand my own attachment trauma that I truly began to understand myself—and, in turn, relate to others in a more authentic and compassionate way.

As we grow up, the way our caregivers relate to us shapes how we see ourselves and the world. The bond we form with them plays a huge role in how we navigate relationships throughout our lives.

Attachment styles are not fixed. We might find ourselves displaying different styles in various situations or with different people, but there’s often one that’s more dominant. Understanding your primary attachment style can be a game changer—it gives you the power to recognize triggers, self-soothe when needed, and communicate your needs more clearly, especially in romantic relationships.
